Most productivity systems are quite complex, many involve a lot of hours of setting up and all involve a disproportionate amount of time to maintain. However, the template presented here offers a refreshing alternative that is both straightforward and user-friendly. It draws inspiration from two effective productivity frameworks developed by Carl Pullein: the Collect, Organize & Do (COD) System and the Time Sector System.
The COD system is based on the basic fundamentals of all great productivity systems. That is you need to collect everything, you need to organise what you collected, and finally, you need to be doing your work and the things you want to do at the right time.
The Time Sector System does not organise your work by project. Instead, it organises your tasks by when you will do them—a much more natural and intuitive way to manage your work.If you think about it, the only thing that matters is when you will do a task. The only factor that will tell you whether you can do a task or not is available time.
How do these systems work together?
- Collect: add your tasks to your Inbox
- Organize: processing your collected tasks is simple, you only need to decide when you will do a task (this week, next week, this month, next month, etc)
- Do: see your tasks for the day and take action
